This not only benifits the kids, parents, and adult skaters of SLO county, but also brings in visitors from all across California.
There will be a restaurant fund raiser after the Sloskatepark Design Workshop.
RRM is taking the lead here and will provide all of the craft goods. Bring money for the new t-shirts.

Eric Bollin is a new member of the fund raising team. He is new to the Central Coast, and has just come from being an advocate for the York PA skatepark that was just successfully built. Check these links to see the recently completed park.

The Woodstock's event was well attended, we are just hoping that most used the flyers. There are some sub-committee meetings happening, and we are waiting for a next meeting date.
Meeting Update June 16th
Come to the next committe meeting! We will be having a quick progress report at 6:00 p.m. at Woodstock's on the 29th. It is a Sunday, and 25% of the sales from 6-9 go toward the Skate Park Fund. Hopefully there will be a skate video to show that has some park skating footage to view.
Back to business.
There have been numerous ideas thrown out during brain-storming that were not supported enough to focus on now. If interest prevails, we can break out the list later.
What we want to do from this point is concentrate on the ideas that have volunteers, reasonable parameters, and the potential to fill the donations basket.
A preliminary calendar will be realeased by July 1st.
Here's what we are going to hit straight on:
Weekly Farmer's Market: We need to be able to speak for our cause and accept donations. The question is whether we can exchange a novelty item for voluntary donations.
Mid-September Skate festival: The City may be able to have the interim skate park operationable by this time. By reserving Santa Rosa Park, we can utilize the entire facility and have fun for all. Raffle, BBQ, Auction?
August Golf Tournement: The City owned Laguna Lake Golf Course would be the host of a unique golf day. All proceeds going to the fund. Cross your fingers.
Restaurant sale revenue sharing: This is working with Woodstock's, who else will play?
Car Washes: This is a sure bet, but we can't bank the committee member's time on it. I think the kids can handle this one. In fact, what if they actually washed the cars themselves? The torture!
December Silent Auction with the goods collected over the next six months.
Grants to be persued over the year.
Coporate donors to be contacted. Local shops have sway over larger companies in the industry.
Thrash-A-Thon skate rally.
Personalized art to be installed permanently on-site.
Cash Drop Boxes: These are in play right now. Look for a list of participating shops here soon.
Novelty sales: Shirts, key chains, magnets, patches
Movie Nights: Movies with a theme to keep the pulse.
Update: June 4th

The first steps are being taken to raise funds for the San Luis Obispo Skate Park. After the City Council voted 5-0 to move forward, a movement has started to push this decision into reality. There is money set aside to use modular ramps to renovate the existing location for the short term. These could be integrated into the new park or reconfigured elswhere in town at a later date. The contract is in place for RRM to facilitate to project. This leaves us waiting for the fiscal year to start on 7/1/08 so that the money can be released to RRM; so that they can resume the planning phase.. We, however, know that we will need to raise funds. We are going to start yesterday. Our goal is
ONE HALF OF ONE MILLION DOLLARS In 1 Year!!
In the coming weeks there will be more committee meetings. Setting the agenda for our goal of reaching $500.000.00 is the immediate goal. If you have a wonderful idea for fund raising for this cause, please attend the next meeting on Monaday June 16th. Meeting location to be printed here when decided
UPDATE: March 3rd
The SLO City Parks and the design group RRM are collecting data for the skatepark renovation. The current cash available is approximatly 110K. This is not nearly enough to build a permanent concrete skatepark.
The January 26th meeting was the first and focussed on Skate Park Definition. It was sparcely attended, but was enough for the vote to favor a material medium of concrete for the proposed project. It was easy to push aside the other mediums of wood or modular composites.
The second meeting was more on track with the progress of the project. Keep in mind that the city council has yet to hear our plee, and we all need to act as one to PUSH them forward. All meeting attendees were given two green stickers to put on a poster board. The outcome (despite illegal lobbying at the voting site by space greedy street skaters)

34%street
38%Transition (pool and bowl)
30% Special features
The park size is proposed at 15,000 to 18,750 square feet.
There is a major issue, however, there is a sewer line running through the middle of the proposed location. It is unclear about whether or not a green belt is needed accross this section. The problem is solved if we can put a sidewalk style flat section over the area. If not, the solution may be to put the roller rink on the far side of the sewer (I am sure they would like concrete rather than asphalt)
The next meeting will further address skate park terrain, and we hope to see you. The meeting will be announced after the city council meeting in early April. You should attend the meeting to get on the e-mail list.
