These videos above are the top-of-the-line in the world. There are Brazialians and Peruvians stretching the limits of Terrain Style sandboarding, while the Germans are wearing hard bindings and ruling it on manmade hills!

The calculated height needed for speed enough for two carves is 60 vertical feet. This video shows what fun an average slope can be.

The Dunes at Sand Mountain are about 300 feet vertical. Cerro Blanco in Peru is some 2000 vertical feet. Doctor Dune is following his lifelong dream and has opened the world's first sandboard park in Florence Oregon. The Sand Master Park has lessons and rentals as well as a stocked freestyle hill, back wood trail bombing, and some lauches.

The state of sandboarding on the Central Coast is limbo. While horses carve deeps ruts in the unreplenished sands of Montana De Oro, the sandboarders are not allowed to ride the regularly replenished dunes. The sand cliffs on the south end of Sandspit on the ocean side are not ridable. This is old land-locked sand and the weather slowly deteriorates the bluff. However, hundreds of people yearly tromp up and down them, usually with cardboard or discs in tow. The sand is cold and wet and does not provide the needs dryness and rollabilty for sandboard gliding. The nearly vegitationless East facing dunes which meet with the estuary, on the other hand are primo for the optimum sand dynamics needed. Are we allowed to ride them? We fear to ask in order to not blow our cover.
